It rained all through the night but warmed up a d was dry early on. We got away at 8.30am and cycled down the hill topick up the trail at Halton and reroad yesterday’s trail overthrow Lune. The track switches sides a couple of times and climbs high.
The route descends down through Hornby and Wray but starts climbing g once more. As we approached the turn to Clapham a lady advised us not to go that way as there is a tunnel with a very poor surface. She laughed when she saw DH giving me a push. So we used part of the Yorkshire dales cycle way to reach Settle. We stopped for lunch here- really the food we eat for 2nd breakfast and the weather was beautiful. The climb out of Settle us areal tough one and we walked most of it and it began to rain lightly. The intensity increased u tip it was river like and coming down towards Winter urn DH got a puncture in his back wheel. After fixing it, I made a. D ducting e decision and found us a B&B. The first one said they had no room.but the 2nd one took us and they have wifi.
We are staying at the Devonshire Arms, Cracoe and I have just enjoyed a jacuzzi bath but scalded my left foot a bit. Have treated it and DH is now in there.
Washed out some of our wet undies and they are hanging in the bathroom on my Sea to Summit drying line. This folds down into a little neoprene pouch and is a very useful thing to have both camping or in an hotel . 39 miles today
